It is always nerve wrecking and scary, but also so exciting and fun to release new music!
This new one is a bit different from my previous releases and I’m eager to see how my listeners will receive it.
•
“Lilies on the Radio” was written in 2019, or maybe it as late 2018 – I can’t quite remember, after I dreamt part of the lyrics. Originally it was written in a slow tempo with soft finger picking guitar play. I have played it every now and then in my solo shows.
•
This spring I brought it to the band as a “new” song because I wanted to work it into a band-version and this is the result! It’s faster, it’s got more groove, it’s got a happier vibe and it’s got drums!
•
“Lilies on the Radio” is about not being perfect and not bending over backwards to get things done just to look good. It’s about finding your people – the ones who care about you and love you regardless of whether you succeed or fail. It’s about appreciating one another for who you are and not what you achieve in life. It’s a love song for those people in your life.
My love song was written for one friend in particular, but I am lucky to have more than one.

”Lilies on the Radio” is for all of you -friends and family, who stand by me and show your support in my private life or my musical life, in sunshine and in rain. You mean more than you will ever know!

”Lilies on the Radio”
lyrics and music by Rebekka Lundstrøm
You can’t hear the lilies on the radio
you can’t feel the breeze behind a door
you cannot relive what happened long ago
and you cannot buy your happiness in store
•
But if you see the moonlight when the night is dark
you know you’re not alone
you can’t hear the lilies on the radio
but I’ll be with you when all the lilies are gone
•
You can’t feel the waves when the wind dies down
you cannot undo what you have done
and you cannot break the fall when you have hit the ground
you cannot hug your loved ones when they’re gone
•
But if you hear the music when the sound is off
you know you’re not alone
you can’t hear the lilies on the radio
but I’ll be with you when all the lilies are gone
•
And when you’re cold and lonely and the fire is out
I will lend you a coat
I’ll play you songs from the radio
I’ll try to keep you afloat
•
And if you hear this song when you’re far away
you know you’re not alone
you can’t hear the lilies on the radio
but I’ll be with you when all the lilies are gone.
